OkemO Valley
Fall Guide
a local photographer's map where to take the best pictures around Ludlow, Vermont...

Plymouth State Park:
๐๐๐งบ
A great place for a picnic and a nice short walk with fantastic views.
$5 entrance fee, but it's free after the second weekend in September.

Green Mountain Sugar House:
๐ฆ๐ช๐
The crisp fall air makes for a more enjoyable maple creemee experience, as you aren’t in a race against the summer heat to finish your cone before it melts.
I recommend getting a small cone with no toppings & sitting in adirondack chairs by the water.
p.s. they serve maple creemees year round ๐
Family Fall Photoshoot:
๐ ๐ธ ๐ง๐ง๐ง๐ง
I absolutely adore family photo sessions in the fall! With a backdrop of colorful foliage, I can capture some truly amazing shots that are perfect for holiday cards or framing in your home. I always strive to make family photoshoots fun & enjoyable for everyone involved!

Okemo Access Road:
๐๐ผ๐๐จ
Drive right to the top of Okemo, and from there you can walk up the road to the fire tower to get 360 views. The drive itself is lovely as you’re in a tunnel of colorful trees with little views at the trail intersections. I recommend putting your car into low-gear on the way down (when it gets busy, the road often smells like overused breaks).

Mount Ascutney:
๐๐ผ๐ฅพ
Mt Ascutney State Park is absolutely stunning in the fall. You can do a 6-mile hike from the bottom, or pay $5 per person to drive up and hike the 1.6-mile summit loop. Near the top, you can find a hang glider launch & fire tower with a 360 view!

Scenic Sunburst Six ride:
โท๏ธ๐โฐ๏ธ๐
This is a really great way to refresh your chairlift riding skills before winter starts (& it comes with STUNNING views).

VT Route 140 to Wallingford:
๐ป๐จ๐
Starting in Ludlow, I drive to about here: (43.4599323, -72.9503775) & in my opinion, the best views are on the drive back to Ludlow. If you like hiking, White Rocks Picnic Area is a trailhead with 2 beautiful hikes; one is 1.6 miles & the other is 3.5 miles, both can be found on AllTrails.

Woodward Reservoir:
๐๐ง๐ถ
I spontaneously stopped at this pull-off on Route 100 when I saw the sun was glowing off these mountains. Right down the road from where I took these pictures, there is a boat launch.

South Hill Road:
โฐ๏ธ๐๐ฃ๏ธ
You'll get a spectacular view of Okemo with a beautiful red barn in the foreground. (Be careful not to trespass on private property.)

Downtown Weston:
๐๐
Weston is a picturesque Vermont town with a central gazebo. The Vermont Country Store is a must-visit. If you’re looking for a fancy restaurant, I recommend checking out The Left Bank, you will likely need reservations.
